Survivor season 45 featured a classic showdown between contestants Austin Li Coon and Dee Valladeres, and it’s time to talk about whether or not they’re still together. Austin and Dee worked together from the start – both started out as members of the same tribe. Week after week they tried to eliminate the others, often blinding the other contestants.

In addition to being compatible in the game, Dee and Austin had an undeniable chemistry and romantic connection. In a game where strong partnerships are often the difference between victory and defeat, this alliance served both well. During Tribal Council, they didn’t hold back as they spent the final moments shooting each other. In the end, Dee won the million dollars and the Sole Survivor title, while Austin came in second. Austin and Dee are still together in late winter 2023and they have shared some facts about themselves Survivor romance. Additionally, Austin and Dee follow each other’s family members on social media and constantly share/like posts. This could mean they are in a relationship. Also, during the finale, Jeff Probst talked about how Dee and Austin reminded him of Amber and Rob Mariano, who met on the show. They later married and had children.

Developing romantic feelings for Dee complicated Austin’s strategy. His alliances and games put him at the top of the power pyramid, two idols in his pocket. However, he gave one of his idols to a guy Survivor actress Julie Alley for safekeeping – she never gave it back. Still, Austin and Dee went to the finals together.

Dee didn’t let the show with Austin cloud her vision. That may have affected Austin’s judgment. During the final Tribal Council of the season, Dee told the jury that when Austin had secretly informed her that they were going to blindside their ally Julie, Dee went behind her back and told Julie to play her immunity idol. The Survivor the contestant also revealed that he had blindsided Austin again when he voted out his ally Drew Basile.

Austin opened with Parade via an exclusive interview with the publication. He talked about the time he realized he really enjoyed being with Dee and wanted to spend more time with her. Even in a harsh environment such as Survivor‘s, where the general mood is challenging and horrifying, can have romantic moments. Rob and Amber had the same experience. Austin said:

I think day 20 is really true to what happened. Because on the 20th, that night, it rained all night. And Dee and I were side by side in the bamboo. And it got really cold. We’re kind of snuggled up next to each other, arms locked and stuff. And we say, “Okay, this is nice.” And then we did it the next day. It rained for about four hours. And then the next night, perfectly sunny, nothing wrong, clear sky. And we’re like, “Okay, that was nice. So why don’t we do it again?” So I think that’s when it really kicked it. But I think there are parts to the game. And you’ll see it too if you watch it again. I knew what was going to happen, so I was kind of tuned into this all season. There are moments where you can definitely see that there are some emotions.

In the interview, Austin’s essential sweetness shines through. He went into the game a “chameleon,” by Parade, and felt that her social skills would help her advance. However, as is usual in the punishing reality series, blindness and deception were far from it. Despite the problems with Dee, he decided to forgive but not forget. Known for his smiling, easy-going nature, Austin seems to be able to move on quickly from a grudge. When people wronged him in the game, he looked more hurt than angry.

This is the kind of person who can be a good partner. So when Dee earns Austin’s trust again, she may have a reward worth more than cold, hard cash — a nice boyfriend, of course, and a million bucks is pretty ideal. Although the two are silent in 2024, there is no evidence that they have broken up.

Austin hasn’t been active on his Instagram in 2024, and while Dee has been, she hasn’t posted about Austin. So there’s always a chance that they’re not together anymore. However, they might keep their romance quiet. In IG in 2023, Austin got a very realistic portrayal of the psychological impact of enduring misery and hunger and then returning to civilization. He said the trolls swarmed him and he was disturbed by some of the anger he received. Austin comment:

Her attitude may be one of the main reasons why Dee and Austin are keeping things quiet if they are together. Dee seems very happy on IG in 2024 – she’s been promoting a show that’s been good to her. May 7 of this year. Dee told her followers on Instagram that she was hosting an exciting event:

Another problem may have made the couple decide to go radio silent about their relationship. Like Confuse, Dee possibly cheating on Austin with Wendell Holland in late 2023. They apparently survived that drama (no proof yet that it actually happened, just speculation). According to the publication, Dee was a little shy about how things stood, owning her former “showmance” status, but teasing a future off-screen. He noted:

Dee: It was both! It was a show and it went on. When we can finally publish, you’ll see lots of pictures of us on vacation.

Austin seemed to forgive again – hopefully Survivor alum is not too forgiving. It’s easy to get caught up in such a toxic dynamic. Although Dee is a great person, she might want to reconsider living with an unfaithful person. It just tells the story of how he really feels. Sometimes wearing makeup is worth it – often it just isn’t. Hopefully, both of these reality alums will share information about their relationship in the future. So far they seem solid, but it hasn’t been fully confirmed. They were a duo at the end of 2023.
