Warburtons and Morrisons are offering free teacakes to anyone who ‘asks for Ellen’ in all 397 Morrisons cafes across the UK this Easter weekend. The “Ask for Ellen” giveaway aims to ease holiday hunger and ease the added financial strain on parents when children are out of school.

The latest giveaway runs from March 25 to April 14, comes as new research shows that over six million families see an increase in their weekly shopping bill during the school holidays as 82% of parents spend more on snacks to keep up with demand from their children.

Warburton’s and Morrison’s partnership aims to support families throughout the holiday season, including those missing out on free school meals and breakfast clubs. From next week, anyone, adults and children alike, can ‘Ask for Ellen’ at any Morrisons Café to receive two toasted crumbles, with butter and jam for free – no questions asked. The offer will be valid all day while stocks last.

‘Ask for Ellen’ is back for the second year running, following the success of the school summer holidays and autumn term 2023, where families across the UK enjoyed 300,000 servings of ‘Ask for Ellen’ crumbs.

The initiative is named after Warburton’s founder, Ellen Warburton. The fifth generation family business has been passionate about supporting charities since it was founded in 1876 and continues to do so today, through the Warburtons Foundation.

Morrisons continues to offer its Kids Eat Free promotion all day, which means families can get a free kids meal when they buy an adult meal costing £4.50 or more.
