When it comes to culture and the arts, there is truly no place like London. From pop-up exhibitions at free museums to some of the most prestigious galleries in the world, we have it all and it’s forever changing, with a brand-new gallery space and café in Fitzrovia hoping to do just that.
BOYS! BOYS! BOYS! is a cultural hub for London’s LGBTQ+ community, becoming the first fine art photography gallery dedicated to queer and gay photography.
This all-new gallery café offers a fresh and inclusive environment for art enthusiasts, as well as the extended LGBTQ+ community, all set to host must-see exhibitions that shine a spotlight on gay and queer culture through the lens of photography.
BOYS! BOYS! BOYS!
BOYS! BOYS! BOYS! is a programme started by The Little Black Gallery in 2018, who are a photography gallery and publisher here in London. As for the new venture into providing a queer-focused space, Ghislain Pascal was the co-founder of the project, hoping to promote and present queer and gay fine art photography through carefully curated exhibitions.
The programme includes this brand-new space, a magazine, books, and much more. They now represent over 78 photographers from 33 countriesincluding China, Kenya, Poland and Russia, where gay rights are repressed and queer lives are under constant threat.
There are already events and exhibitions set up, including BOYS! BOYS! BOYS! MEETS every Wednesday, which involves a member of the queer and/or gay community being invited to talk at this charming venue, fostering dialogue and connection with like-minded people, as well as inspiration for personal growth, relationships, and beyond.
Their schedule has included some amazing speakers, including Ben Spriggs, the Editor in Chief of Elle Decoration; Joseph Galliano-Doig MBE, the co-founder and CEO of Queer Britain, the UK’s first queer museum; and ceramicist William Martin.
When it comes to the interiors of the café gallery, they were designed by Alison Henry, exuding a velvety ambience that’s back-lit with neon lights and enveloped in a lovely soft pink with wooden details, boasting darker tones to match its black exterior.
Beyond the aesthetics, it is, of course, a café as well as a gallery, serving up their very own branded French wines—including red, white, rosé, and sparkling varieties. There’s also their own organic Colombian coffeewhich is perfect if you’re looking for a quick pick-me-up the next time you’re in the Fitzrovia area.
