Alcatel 3025X review

What is it?

This is Alcatel’s topoftherange flip phone with a 2.8inch colour screen. It can be used with a 3G mobile data connection, will last around eight days between charges and has a MicroSD card slot to expand the storage.

GHI expert verdict

This phone is affordable, simple to use and has a bright screen that’s easy to see. It takes clear calls and comes with an FM radio, converter app and camera. However, it can’t be used on wifi or with a 4G sim card.

The good

The backlit keypad was visible in all lights and the large keys were clearly marked and responsive. On test, the phone was clear with no distortion when making calls and text messages were easy to read and presented in a clear thread on the screen. We like that the camera is located on the front of the phone rather than the rear, as this helps to prevent smudge marks from fingers. It comes with the headphones that work the radio, a web browser and the ability to convert measurements between metric and imperial.

Take note

With no screen on its front, the ringtone is the only indicator for getting a call or message. There’s no app store either, so you can’t access email, Facebook or WhatsApp. We also found the onscreen font quite small and the battery doesn’t last as long as other feature phones.
