The Columbia Road carols may have been cancelled, but that doesn’t mean all festive hope is lost. There are other places you can go in London for a heartwarming Christmas singalong – spots that are hopefully a little bit less crowded too. Maltby Street Market in Bermondsey is hosting late sessions every Friday with mulled wine, festive grub and, you guessed it, carols.

The south London street food market will be open from 6-9pm again this Friday (December 15) for a wholesome Christmas singalong. Expect bangers such as ‘Good King Wenceslas’, ‘Away in a Manger’ and ‘Hark! The Herald Angels Sing’. Goes off every time.

@maltbystmarket Maltby Street Market Presents: ✨ FESTIVE FRIDAYS ✨ Three evenings of soul-singing street food, heart-warming tipples and spellbinding choir music 🎶 🎄 Friday 1st / 8th / 15th December, 6-9pm 🫶🏼 Our archway restaurants & bars will be open til late so dust off your wooly jumpers & hats… it’s nearly time to Eat, Drink & Be Merry with us! 🍾 #MaltbyStreetMarket ♬ original sound – Maltby Street Market

With all that singing, you’re bound to work up an appetite. There will also be nosh on offer from the likes of The Gyoza Guys, The Beefsteaks and La Pepiá, as well as plenty of warm alcoholic tipples.

We’d also recommend checking out what’s happening in your local area, as community spirit is what Christmas is about, after all. There are carol concerts taking place all over London this winter, and you can find out what’s happening when here.
