I was often told as a child that I would get far too invested in my books. On road trips and journeys, I would tune out everything except the literary world I was invested in. I would miss impressive landmarks and sights and completely ignore the sounds of people telling me to ‘look out the window at THAT!’ So, I’m basically the perfect person for London’s newest (and probably highest) reading nook.

Over at Battersea Power Station, Lift 109 is running a series of special ‘Lates’ sessions for bibliophiles. They’re transforming their sky-high viewing platform into a cosy reading nook. With stunning views everywhere you turn, you’re invited to kick back and relax with a book – if you can tear your eyes away from the view, that is…

It’s more than just a stunning place to read, though, as there’s also a wonderful literary experience that awaits guests. For the sessions, Lift 109 has joined forces with neighbourhood bookstore, Battersea Bookshop, for a ‘book tasting session.’ Apparently, our desire for tasting menus extends beyond food and drinks to books now, too!

Visitors will be guided through a curated selection of books, with the chance to ‘taste’ a variety of options. At the end of it all, you’ll even leave with the title of your choice.

When can I visit the sky-high reading nook?

The sky-high reading nook Lift 109 Lates will launch on World Book Day (March 7) with two hour-long sessions. These will run at 6:15pm and 7:15pm. Following these initial sessions, there will also be chances for some sky-high reading on March 14, 27, and 28.
