There is (another) new bar and restaurant in town! Landing in Preston Street’s indie dining hub, No No Please combines that sweet spot where dining room meets bar and lounge.

Launched by brother-sister duo Euan MacDonald (founder of the Brighton Restaurant Awards) and Mel Culcross (Heckfield Place), the brilliantly named No No Please opened over the Easter weekend.

The name is apparently inspired by a family tradition, which means you commit to what you do and involve everyone, Euan said. Restaurant magazine.

The team serves house-made small-batch cocktails (like the Sea and T, a samphire-infused G&T) created by Golden Pineapple’s Jack Williams, and Southeast Asian-inspired small plates. Namo Eat’s Bookie Mitchell is the restaurant’s executive chef, so the small but perfectly formed menu features tasty dishes such as Bang Bang chicken salad and fiery fingers, i.e. glazed tofu with go-chu sauce and sriracha pearls.

In terms of decor, the restaurant has Parisian-style cafes with half-curtains, atmospheric earth tones, wood-paneled walls with a vintage touch. Punch magazine prints and vintage-style soup cans for cutlery.

It certainly looks like the kind of place you can settle in for a few hours. What else? It is (currently) walk-in only and they are very dog (and human) friendly.
