Whether you’re brand new to London or a veteran of the hustle and bustle, navigating the streets of the big city can be both exciting and a little intimidating – so come along with me on a day in my life as a student in London!

As a student you’re never short of options for things to do to keep you busy, but it’s important to not get overwhelmed and make sure you take it one day at a time. With that in mind, here’s what a day in my life looks like as a student in London:

☀️ Rise and shine

I enjoy waking up early to make the most of my morning. I’ll check what I’ve got on during the day, check my commute on the TfL Go app and pack some snacks to keep me fuelled.

🚲 Let’s go!

Studying in London usually means jumping between different campuses all over the city, so figuring out a quick and cheap way to get around is a must. For me, Santander Cycles has become my go-to solution this semester—it makes getting between classes easy and really fun.

📚 Campus life

I arrive at London Bridge for my morning lecture. Once this finishes, I take a coffee break and catch-up with some friends. My next lecture is in Waterloo, so I check my Santander Cycles app and conveniently, there are several Santander Cycle docks nearby.

🏙️ On the hop

I grab a bike and take a short breezy cycle towards my campus in Waterloo. On my way I can soak up the late morning buzz, take in the fresh air – it’s honestly one of the best parts of my day. Not to mention the stunning views of The Shard, and passing through the iconic Borough Market.

🍂 Out and about

After my afternoon seminar I meet up with some friends in Covent Garden. Using my Santander Cycles app I undock my bike and head straight off on my journey. It’s a scenic ride across Waterloo Bridge, the Thames is sparkling, and London’s famous landmarks look even cooler from a bike.

😌 A day well spent

Cycling is a delightful way to see the city; it feels so special and peaceful cruising through the streets and enjoying the fresh air. Using the bike enables me to stay active and enjoy a tranquil commute all while being able to see so much of beautiful London.

One of my absolute favourite things about cycling during term time is the freedom to make detours and explore the charming little streets and alleys. It’s all about enjoying the journey and being able to make the most of each day of student life!

💰 Save money with Santander Cycles

Using these bikes has been a game changer for me. Not only is it convenient, fast, and reliable, but it is also cost-effective. Santander Cycles offers a 25% student discount on annual subscriptions, meaning unlimited rides for £90 per year!

I am so excited for more adventures around the city this academic year, discovering new areas and enjoying London in the changing seasons with Santander Cycles.
