Here’s some brie-lliant news: a bar dedicated entirely to cheese toasties will be arriving in the capital city next month – and it’s set to be pretty darn gouda.

Two Drops will be landing at Battersea Power Station at the end of April, courtesy of Harts Group. If that name sounds familiar to you, it may be because they’re also the proud owners of some of London’s best-loved eateries (and some of Secret London’s favourite spots) such as Quo Vadis, El Pastor and Parrillan.

On the menu

Executive chef, Marvin Jones, has carefully curated a mouth-watering menu for the new spot, shining a (well-deserved) light on the humble cheese toastie. The toasties will be made with delicious buttered slices of sourdough, filled with Jurarégal cheese and a variety of fillings and toasted to utter perfection.

Fillings will include the likes of salt beef, pickled gherkin and horseradish; smoked haddock and English mustard; and marmite and shallot. A rotating toastie special will also be available, created in collaboration with the team’s favourite chefs and brands.

Other dishes on the menu will include seasonal soups and salads, herby roast potatoes and – of course – a British cheese board. Jones has also whipped up a sweet toastie for dessert which will be made with dulce de leche, caramelised banana and hazelnuts. Sign me up, immediately.

Two Drops is the sibling venue of The Drop in Coal Drops Yard. The new neighbourhood joint will boast a warm and relaxed environment with 63 covers, a long bar, some high tables, and a sheltered riverside terrace. Cheese toasties and sweeping views of the Thames? What more could you ask for in life, hey?

Crispin Somerville, MD of The Drop, Quo Vadis and El Pastor, says: “In Two Drops, we are creating a cosy and welcoming bolthole, where we’ve focused on all the details to make hunkering down here, in day or nighttime, hungry, thirsty, or both, an absolute delight.”

Two Drops will be opening at Battersea Power Station on Friday, April 26. Find out more here.
