Victoria Park is no stranger to hosting large events, with thousands flocking over to All Points Eastfor example, every August to dance along to the likes of Mitski, Loyle Carner, The National, Stormzy, and many more. Come next summer, the leafy East London park will be playing host to a brand new event in June.

Rolling with the All Points East format of running across two weekends (as well as being put on by the same team), LIDO will join the ranks at the park to make it a double festival affair at Victoria Park in the summer.

While there is no lineup or exact dates confirmed yet, AEG have confirmed that LIDO, named after Lido Field in the park, will be a fan-first festival with “carefully curated music line-ups alongside community-driven activities during the week, all with a strong emphasis on sustainability,” and, much like All Points East, is promising the “most current headliners”.

There is also due to be a midweek programme through the festival’s runtime, where art and wellbeing events will be held in the park to help put forward local talent. There will be a focus from he festival to support this through East London Arts and Music (ELAM) with students from he school offered the chance to perform as well as taking part in festival production, technology, and work in the music industry.

Speaking on the event, Jim King, CEO of European Festivals at AEG Presents said: “LIDO Festival represents the next stage of AEG’s festival journey. Taking place at Victoria Park, one of our favourite locations in the heart of London’s creative districts, Lido Festival allows us to push our ambitions further in working with young people within the industry and those who aspire to be.

“Most excitingly, this centres about a new generation of artists, whether they’re headlining or performing for the first time. The vision of supporting the artists’ journey further develops as we program each day directly with the headliner.”

The hope is that the festival reaches similar levels of success as All Points East, which is still taking place in Victoria Park later in the summer in its usual end-of-August slot. Field Daythe dance event run on the same weekend, however, is moving over to Brockwell Park during the May Bank Holiday.

LIDO will make its debut at Victoria Park next summer across two weekends in June. More information, including the festival’s lineup, is set to follow. You can find out more as the news develops via their website.
