If there’s one thing Londoners are used to dealing with, it’s mould… everywhere. Especially in our rainy springs, it becomes hard to deal with and using a plugin dehumidifier can be very expensive. Thankfully, the answer to the problem is hanging dehumidifiers.

I swear by these as I needed to start using them when my coats and shoes got mouldy without me noticing during the warmer spring months. (You can read my review of hanging dehumidifiers here). Amazon have cut the price of their Nyxi hanging dehumidifiers, bringing their multipack of 40 down to £32.29. This works out to 81p per dehumidifier.

They also sell them in packs of three (£5.52, £1.84 per dehumidifier), packs of six (£8.42, £1.40 per dehumidifier), packs of 18 (£16.97, 94p per dehumidifier) and packs of 80 (£64.59, 81p per dehumidifier). These are all cheaper than going through OnBuy, who are selling a pack of 6 for £11.40. For use in bedrooms, hallways and garages, they can absorb up to three times their own weight in moisture using crystals inside the bag.

The crystals extract moisture from the air and drip it into the bag. The hanger is also strong enough to make sure it doesn’t fall when full of water. Each dehumidifier works for up to six weeks, depending on how damp the room is.

These hanging dehumidifiers are well rated, coming in at 4.6 out of 915 ratings. One happy reviewer said: “So amazed at how well these have worked. I have started getting condensation on my Windows during the winter and got these to try and absorb the moisture. They have been great and i can see the water collecting. I also was suspicious of moisture in my wardrobe so put one there too and yup it’s also collecting water. The little hanger makes it easy to put anywhere. Very very pleased.”

Another said: “Product really works well, collecting any moisture.” A third remarked: “They work well you can see the moisture build up in the bag. They last a fee weeks. Depending on how much moisture is in your house. Ordered 3 then ordered another 6. Works well.”

However, a less happy customer wrote: “They absorb lots of moisture, but when they do the hanger breaks apart with the weight. One sprang a leak in the wardrobe. Nightmare!” Another said: “Unfortunately they aren’t working in my wardrobes. Had them 5 days and just aren’t doing their job very well.”

151 also sell hanging dehumidifiers, with a 12-pack for £16.99 at B&Q. However, they have 500ml capacity compared to Nyxi’s 230ml, so they work out to about £1.41 per hanging dehumidifier. They also have a 4.6 rating out of 3,340 at 151.
