1000-lb Sisters star Chris Combs has lost over 150 pounds since the series premiered in 2020, supporting his family on their various weight loss journeys. Although the series focuses on the lives of sisters Tammy Slaton and Amy Slaton, Chris is a fan favorite character. In part, fans love Chris because he’s funny and somehow manages to make losing weight look like happy fun. He is also loved because he has always supported his family.

When viewers first met Chris, he was helping his sister Tammy by taking her to her doctor. Chris grew up with Tammy, Amy, and their other brother, Steven Slaton, in Shawneetown, Illinois, and the family has always been close. Chris started at 450 pounds, but he’s down to less than 300 pounds and is working on losing even more. Like his siblings, Chris’s unhealthy relationship with food started at an early age. Their mother worked a lot, so the children had to feed themselves. They ate a lot of junk food because it was cheaper and easier to prepare.


When Chris grew up, he started working in the food industry. He worked for the American food company Tyson Foods and then in the kitchen of McDonald’s, where he met his wife, Brittany Combs. Chris admitted it working in these food companies made him eat more. While losing weight, Chris has continued to support other Slatons as they all embark on their personal weight loss journeys.

8 Chris Combs loves spending time with his grandchildren

No matter how busy life can get, Chris never loses sight of what’s really important. Chris is a proud grandfather and in January 2022 Chris sent An Instagram photo of her holding her three adorable grandchildren, all of whom appear to be under the age of four. In the picture, 1000-lb Sisters the star beams proudly alongside the caption that reads “Nothing is better than grandchildren.”

The fans 1000-lb Sisters comment on the section to support how much thinner Chris looks. “Looks good Chris,” one fan wrote, while another admitted, writing:Nice picture. You look amazingOne of the most interesting things about the show is that the fans have a unique relationship with the Slatons, who they encourage and feel inspired by.

7 Chris Combs & Brittany

Chris weighed 450 pounds when he started his weight loss journey and he looked like a different person. In the old size Chris’s mobility was limited, but after losing weight, his life has changed completely, as well as his wife Brittany’s life. His increased mobility meant he could also get out more. He and Brittany even went on a family vacation to Florida, which wouldn’t have been possible before the Slatons lost weight. In February 2021 Chris posted an Instagram carousel of photos of him and Brittany looking happy together.

Despite the joke, Chris’s physical change probably contributed to the new spark in his relationship with his wife. Brittany is a 1000-lb Sisters a fan favorite, and like the rest of the Slatons, Brittany has embarked on her weight loss journey over the years. She even recently said she was considering bariatric surgery. Chris and Brittany have been married since October 2016 and live in Kentucky.


If Brittany decides to have bariatric surgery, her very supportive husband would no doubt be by her side the whole time.

6 Chris supported Tammy and Amy’s weight loss journeys

1000-lb Sisters star Chris started his weight loss journey with his stepsisters Tammy and Amy. When she first appeared on the show, she supported them on their journey to health and fitness. Want to emulate their weight loss success for a healthier and fuller life, Chris recognized the need for medical procedures to correct his declining health. During 1000-lb Sisters in season 3 Chris had weight loss surgery and lost weight rapidly. Chris has always been a fan favorite, largely due to his grateful and hopeful attitude towards weight loss.

1000-lb Sisters fans have noticed how much Chris supports his siblings. In January, Chris posted a selfie on Instagram highlighting that fact his face is much thinner than before. The comment section was full of appreciation for what a good brother Chris looks like. One Instagram user wrote:I need a big brother like you!! The way you treat your sisters amazes me.“Another echoed the sentiment, writing,I give you so much props for being so kind/helpful to your family and people around you. Chris also serves his other siblings. In January, Dr. Eric Smith posted an Instagram clip of Misty Slaton undergoing bariatric surgery. In the footage, Chris is with Misty in the hospital until the moment she is taken into surgery. It is unclear if this was Misty’s first surgery. Although it is not uncommon for some people to undergo weight loss surgery, there are a higher risk of complications for the patient the second time.

4 Chris knows his family needs him to be healthy

Dr. Smith treats Chris in addition to Tammy and Misty, and this is not the first time he has written about Chris. In March, Dr. Smith posted an amazing before and after on Chris’ Instagram. On the left side of the split screen is a photo of Chris, pre-weight loss, wearing his fast food outfit, and on the right a recent photo of a slimmed-down Chris completing a 5,000 run.

The caption reads “Remember when riding a roller coaster for the first time was a big deal for @chris.combs.5243? Well, Chris just left the excitement in the dust by getting his first 5km last weekend!” Like his sisters Tammy and Amy, Chris’ weight loss transformation has been extraordinary.

Although losing weight isn’t easy, Chris made it look like he was having fun, which viewers appreciated. Chris did more than add levity to the show; he brought a deep emotional layer. Although Chris struggled with his weight, he explained that he wants to take it seriously now that he is approaching the age his father was when he died. “The main reason for the surgery is that my father died at the age of 57“, Chris explained, adding:He weighed 400-500 kilos. November 19, 2022 Tammy married Caleb Willingham in a small, private ceremony at Windsor Lane Rehabilit Center, a weight loss facility where the couple had met a few months earlier. Tammy’s walk down the aisle had taken a long time, and 1000– pounds Siblings the star was excited to finally find the love of his life. The couple exchanged vows and promised each other forever surrounded by their closest family. Chris was there with her sister and later posted photos of Tammy’s special day on Instagram.


2 Chris mourned Caleb Willingham

He was there for Tammy when she needed him the most

While Tammy was able to lose weight, Caleb was not. June 30, 2023 41-year-old Caleb died of complications caused by his obesity. Tammy was devastated when she had to bury her young husband at the end of the year 1000-lb Sisters season 5. Chris was at Caleb’s emotional memorial, right next to Tammy, as always.

He helped with their divorces


Although Chris has been blessed with a happy marriage, his siblings have not been so lucky. Amanda’s ex-husband Jason Halterman filed for divorce, as did Amy’s ex-husband, Michael Halterman. Yes, sisters married brothers and therefore have the same last name.

Amanda, a mother of three, and Amy, who has two small children of her own, relied on Chris for support and guidance.

While Amanda’s divorce happened in private, Amy’s dissolution happened on the show. Amy has struggled with her mental health and has never needed her brother more. One thing is certain: Chris is there with Amy and her family for the rest of his life.
