Struggling with hair loss or thinning hair is something many people may experience at some point in their life.

Medical conditions such as alopecia areata, genetics, or a side effect of a treatment such as chemotherapy can all be responsible for hair loss, and if other holistic treatments haven’t worked, a hair transplant may be one way to help restore your hair.

Some patients may prefer to choose clinics closer to home in the UK, whilst others may prefer to travel abroad to undergo hair transplant surgery. One country which has become popular for its abundance of hair transplant clinics is Turkey.

Knowing what you can expect from your chosen hair transplant clinic can help you feel more prepared for your surgery. Many clinics, including Smile Hair Clinic, offer a free consultation appointment to all prospective customers before they make a decision.

These appointments are a great opportunity to ask your surgeon any questions you may have, and to talk about any potential problems or side effects. It’s also important you speak to your GP before you commit to any cosmetic surgery, as they can ensure you’re fit and well and suitable for the procedure.

A clinic founded by surgeons

Smile Hair Clinic was founded by Dr M. Erdogan and Dr G. Bilgin, two surgeons who each have many years of experience performing hair transplants. Since opening Smile Hair Clinic in 2018, they have gone on to help even more patients struggling with hair loss.

The ethos of Smile Hair Clinic focusses on three main components; aesthetics, patient comfort, and a dramatic transformation. The surgeons at the clinic make sure each of their patients is as comfortable as possible during and after the hair transplant procedure, whilst aiming to provide them with a dramatic transformation that follows the hair’s natural growth pattern.

They don’t just focus on the surgical side of things, either. Smile Hair Clinic also provides a full hospitality experience, including a stay in a hotel for the duration of your stay in Turkey.

Surgeons experienced in hair restoration

The Smile Hair Clinic team is includes four experienced surgeons

Alongside Dr M. Erdogan and Dr G. Bilgin, Smile Hair Clinic also has two more fully qualified and experienced hair transplant surgeons; Dr Ahmedov, Dr Azak, and Dr Ziroglu. Every hair transplant carried out at the clinic will be performed by one of these four surgeons.

When you contact the clinic, you will be assigned one of these four surgeons who will be your surgeon for the duration of your hair transplant journey.

Each of your pre- and post-operative appointments will be conducted with your assigned surgeon, and they will carry out your surgery. You can also view full details of their medical qualifications and training on the website.

A range of different hair transplant techniques are available

The type of hair transplant you get will depend on several things, including the size of the area you’re looking to tackle. For each method, your surgeon will remove hair follicles from a donor site, which is usually at the nape of the neck as this area is typically less affected by balding and hair loss.

The individual hairs are then transferred to the recipient area. Older techniques, known as the strip method, involved taking a strip of skin from the area which included the hair follicles, and implanting that into the area being treated.

However, as techniques became more advanced, it is now much more common to have individual hair follicles removed and have these be reimplanted. There are two main techniques used; follicular unit extraction FUE, and the direct hair implantation DHI method.

Smile Hair Clinic offers both of these methods, as well as the manuel hair transplant, and the Sapphire hair transplant. The most suitable technique for you will be decided by your surgeon during your consultation.

Your surgeon will also discuss all aftercare steps with you following your surgery. It is important to avoid getting water on your scalp for a few days, as well as keep the area clean. Patients are typically allowed to return to work within a few weeks.

Your new hair follicles will start to grow not long after your surgery, however it can take around three months to start to see any signs of hair growth. It typically takes 12 months to see the final results of your hair transplant, although this will depend on your hairs natural growth rate, and your health and age.

Affordable prices

One of the reasons international patients choose to get a hair transplant in Turkey is due to the affordable prices provided by clinics there. Turkey typically has a lower cost of living than countries like the UK, which means they can provide services at a more competitive price than the UK.

The cost of your hair transplant will depend on a variety of factors, including whether you’re wanting a full head of hair follicles implanting or a smaller area, and what technique is used for your surgery.

At Smile Hair Clinic the price of an FUE hair transplant ranges from €2390 – €3290, whilst a DHI hair transplant costs between €3290– €4830. However, your surgeon will be able to discuss this with you and give you a cost for your specific treatment.

Hair transplant package deals

To help keep costs more affordable for their patients, Smile Hair Clinic also offers hair transplant package deals.

These package deals include the cost of a stay in a nearby hotel, as well as transfers between the airport, hotel, and clinic. They also include the full cost of treatment and medications, and the price is not affected by how many grafts are required for your hair transplant.

You will also be provided with a translator who can assist you with any communication, and a complete online aftercare service so you can ask any questions and make sure there are no issues as you heal from your surgery.
